Whether you are looking for a new beer to try or you want to try something different from your usual local brand, there are several Atlanta Breweries that are worth checking out. Some of them are Jekyll Brewing, Round Trip Brewing, and Orpheus Brewing. Each one of these Atlanta breweries has a unique taste and each is a must-try.

Jekyll Brewing

Located in Alpharetta, Georgia, Jekyll Brewing is the first brewery to open in this metro area. Named after the island off the coast of Georgia, the brewery produces brown ales, lagers, and spiked seltzers. They’ve also launched a line of juices.

The Alpharetta location features a small brewery, a tasting room, and a restaurant. You can watch the brewing process in action. You can also try a sample of Jekyll’s brews in a souvenir mason jar.

The Jekyll Island brewery brews several seasonal brews, including Hop Dang Diggity, a Southern IPA. This beer has a malty backbone and a smooth finish. It pairs well with spicy Asian and Latin dishes.

Bold Monk Brewery

Orpheus Brewing

Located in Midtown Atlanta, Orpheus Brewing focuses on barrel aged beer. While the brewery offers several varieties of this style, it is the sour brews that make the company stand out.

Jason Pellett is the head brewer at Orpheus. He started the brewery seven years ago in a former warehouse on the Savannah River. He has since expanded the operation to a brewing facility on Eastside Trail and a warehouse on Westminster Drive. His team has also enlisted the help of local artists to create the aesthetics of each beer style.

While there are many other craft breweries in Atlanta, Orpheus Brewing stands out. Not only is the brewery located in a very desirable location, but it also offers a range of delicious beers.

Round Trip Brewing

Located in the upper Westside of Atlanta, Round Trip Brewing is a German-style lager enthusiast’s dream come true. This new brewery will feature 12 beers on tap, along with a custom-built bar and an outdoor beer garden. Round Trip is a privately owned enterprise, and the beer is being produced on a three-vessel, 15-barrel system from Wisconsin-based ProBrew.

The brewery also has a small private event room that can accommodate up to 50 people. The facility also boasts a custom-built mash & brew system, along with a seven-barrel fermenter for the brewhouse’s taproom brews. Using Magnum and Tettnang hops, the brewery produces a number of interesting brews.

Steady Hand Beer

Founded by brothers Brian and Kevin Sullivan, Steady Hand is on track to open its brick and mortar taproom on the Westside in early 2018. The brewery is converting a 14,000 square foot building adjacent to Bacchanalia into a state of the art brewery and taproom. A grand opening event will take place on Saturday, March 9th. This event will include live music, special beers on tap and raffles.

There are two things that are expected to be a given at the new brewery: an impressive beer list and a patio for summer sipping. There are a few beers that have been on the menu for some time and others that are on their way. The brewery is also experimenting with brewing coffee stout.

Design of the Bold Monk

Located in Atlanta’s upper Westside neighborhood, Bold Monk is a coffee shop, restaurant and brewery. It’s part of the Brewed to Serve Restaurant Group, which owns Max Lager’s Wood-Fired Grill & Brewery, Richard’s Southern Fried, and White Oak Kitchen & Cocktails. In addition to its own brewery, Bold Monk also partners with Methodical Coffee in Greenville, SC.

Bold Monk’s menu incorporates Belgian cuisine with Southern comfort food. The beer menu is full of house-made brews. They include Shared Spirit IPA, Attainment Double IPA, and Stained Rose farmhouse ale. It also features German and Italian wines.

Bold Monk’s wine list is inspired by monastic wine making traditions in Europe. Each wine on the menu is paired with a beer that is made with similar flavors and aromas.

Torched Hop

Located in the heart of Midtown, Torched Hop boasts a stepped up pub grub menu with a slew of small plates, burgers and an impressive 10-barrel brewing system. This is one of the best beer drinking locations in Atlanta, if you are into beer. They also have vintage arcade games and shuffleboard. They are located across the street from the Mary Mac Tea Room. You can also take a tour of the brewery at their open house. They also have a special drink of the week rotation. They are open four to midnight and have a full liquor license. The aforementioned cocktail snobs can rest easy, as Torched Hop also offers a wide selection of booze-free cocktails.
